PP-AV will open for residents the underground municipal parking at the back of Mercadona, completed in February 2011 at a cost of 2 million euros, and still closed
The initial diagnosis carried out by the PP-AV candidate for mayor estimates that there are almost a thousand parking spaces that would be needed to cover the most urgent needs of the populations without sufficient spaces or lacking this service, which also includes the small payment of Risco Blanco.
Due to the special configuration of its urban layout and the population growth experienced in the last 20 years, El Tablero is currently the center with the greatest lack of parking within the municipality. This deficit comes from the large building development of homes of up to three floors with recessed roofs that the old planning of the subsidiary regulations allowed, where the forecast of the basic service needs that a constantly growing population would have at present was not contemplated.
To alleviate this lack of parking in El Tablero, Marco Aurelio proposes as the most immediate solution the opening of the existing underground municipal parking behind the Mercadona Supermarket, the work of engineer José Francisco Henríquez Sánchez. It is an infrastructure built in 2010 with an important and large public investment of 2 million euros, which was completed on February 17, 2011 but has never been opened to provide service to residents.

Marco Aurelio Pérez wants to open this car park because he will make about 200 parking spaces available to El Tablero, specifically 189 for cars, of which 4 are for vehicles adapted for people with reduced mobility, and another 14 for motorcycles. The project defended by PP-AV includes the recovery and reconditioning of the entire upper part of the property, which is now a completely neglected and abandoned public square, to give it a multipurpose social and sports use, intended for families and all ages.
In addition, Marco Aurelio also intends to generate new parking lots in El Tablero, taking advantage of the subsoil of all public infrastructures that are built from now on to create new underground parking lots. That is what will happen, for example, with the future Municipal Arts Center that the next PP-AV government is already scheduled to build on the site of the old unitary school located between the Carmelo Pérez Rodríguez Cultural Center and the Senior Center and El Pilar Pensioners. It will be an emblematic building with one or two floors of underground parking, and will be dedicated mainly to the teaching, promotion and rehearsal of the Municipal Schools of Music, Plastic Arts, and Performing and Visual Arts, and also to the municipality's dance schools.
Medians
Parking is also needed in the medians. In the towns of Fataga, Ayacata and Tunte, the problem arises above all due to the tourist visits in rental cars, motorcycles and bicycles that they receive almost all year round. To equip the historic center of Tunte, Marco Aurelio plans to get more out of the piece of municipal land that the City Council has very close to the church, at the exit of the urban network in the direction of Tejeda. And to provide Ayacata, the most viable solution is considering acquiring or exchanging the existing land behind the church.
In Fataga, Sonnenland and San Fernando the solutions necessarily involve the approval of the General Plan to create service areas and the understanding and establishment of agreements with the land owners. As in some areas of Playa del Inglés and Campo Internacional, the problem in Sonnenland is due to the residential and family conversion that has been taking place in numerous semi-detached apartments that initially emerged as tourist complexes. In 2015, to help alleviate the lack of parking there, the City Council governed by PP-AV built a public parking lot for 160 vehicles, recovering the existing slope between César Manrique Street and the Barranco de Las Tabaqueras, looking towards the Lighthouse, which was completely abandoned.
