San Roque University Hospitals receives the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands 2023

The Government of the Canary Islands has awarded and delivered, yesterday May 14, Canary Islands Day, XNUMX Canary Islands Gold Medals and among them is the leading private healthcare group in the Canary Islands.

 

The Canary Islands Gold Medal was created by Decree 76/1986, of May 9, and is awarded to people, corporations and institutions that, inside or outside the Canary Islands, have earned this recognition from the Canary Islands people. It is granted by decree, with prior agreement of the Government Council. The initiative to award the Gold Medal corresponds to the president of the Canary Islands, by his own decision or at the proposal of the Parliament of the Canary Islands.

 

San Roque University Hospitals celebrated its first centenary in 2020. One hundred years had passed since Dr. Luis Millares Cubas, accompanied by other physicians of recognized prestige at the time, such as Silvestre Bello Rodríguez and Francisco López Hernández, laid the foundations of private healthcare in Gran Canaria, evolving from the charitable healthcare model. inherited from the 100th century and from the health hospice and its deficiencies to the centers adapted for the performance of surgical interventions, passing through the community of goods, the clinic and the hospital, until reaching University Hospitals, our organization has been a benchmark in these XNUMX years. innovation in healthcare for the population of Gran Canaria and also for its visitors.

Standing out with highly complex medical specialties such as cardiac surgery, comprehensive oncology, Parkinson's surgery, nuclear medicine and radiodiagnosis service among many others. Today, the organization has seven centers: the university hospitals of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Maspalomas; the care centers of Vecindario, Lanzarote and Cabo Verde; the Queen Victoria social health center, and the IKIGAI by HUSR Dermatology, Aesthetic Medicine and Plastic Surgery center.

The award was presented by Ángel Víctor Torres at the official Canary Islands Day ceremony, on May 30, at the Tenerife Auditorium, to Mario Rodríguez, president of San Roque University Hospitals.
