Who will raise the baton of command in San Bartolomé de Tirajana?

Who will raise the baton of command in San Bartolomé de Tirajana?

All eyes are on the electoral board, since its resolution could condition the possible pacts to form a government in the municipality

The electoral process has not yet ended in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Although the citizens have already been an active part of it, exercising their right to vote last Sunday, the formations that attended the elections are very pending the resolution of the Electoral Board that the claim by the PP-AV could make the formation Marco Aurelio adds one more councilor, getting 8 and leaving the PSOE with 5.

At the moment, and at the expense of the resolution, the situation could not be tighter in the municipality. Only PP-AV (7 councillors), Canary Coalition (7), PSOE (6) and Nueva Canarias (5) have achieved representation in the Tirajan town council, which has not allowed other formations to obtain a single seat that would more easily allow the formation of a government team, as with Ciudadanos in 2019.

This political scenario brings complexity to the possible pacts, since as the number of seats and votes are so equal (barely 1900 difference between PP-AV and NC), the political forces show more reluctance when it comes to adapting to the claims. of others during negotiations.

The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council is made up of 25 councillors, with 13 making up the absolute majority. The most possible pact and which began to be talked about in both headquarters long before the end of the count last Sunday was that of the PP-AV with the Canarian Coalition, a pact between equals (7 councilors each) that would achieve the majority and leave Marco Aurelio as mayor of the municipality as he is the leader of the most voted force. However, after the good electoral results, Alejandro Marichal has made clear his intentions to be mayor, a requirement that would greatly complicate the negotiations.

From the PSOE they see it as more complicated, their alliance with Nueva Canarias would only add eleven councilors and an agreement with PP-AV or with the Canarian Coalition again seems quite complicated for both parties.

These days will be decisive in knowing how the government team in the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council will be composed.
