The PP-Somos spokesperson, Rayco Padilla, explained that “the general interest of Ingenio is above all else. The popular will was expressed on May 28 and we have complied with it. It would have been disloyal to the citizens not to promote the political change that they brought about at the polls,” in reference to the offer made by the PSOE to form an agreement that was finally discarded by the popular ones.

“They offered us the mayorship for two years. But we understood that having the mayor's office to return it in 2025 to someone who has been failed at the polls did not make sense," said the future first mayor of Ingenio, since the socialist formation lost two councilors compared to the councilors obtained in the municipal elections. held in 2019. In his opinion, the general interest of Ingenio “must be above the acronyms.”

Regarding the areas that, by virtue of the pact signed today, correspond to PP-Somos, Rayco Padilla explained that they will assume the first tenure of Mayor and a second tenure “to be determined yet.” In addition, they will manage the areas of Urban Planning, Security and Emergencies, Accessibility, Parks and Gardens, Culture, Citizen Participation, Solidarity, Celebrations, Education and Nursery Schools.

Regarding the projects that will be addressed after the formation of the new municipal corporation, the PP-SOMOS spokesperson explained that “they will rely” on the regional pact between the Canarian Coalition and the Popular Party to address needs for the municipality at a regional level, such as the case of a new access to the GC-1, since currently there is only one entrance and one exit, or the construction of a new health center for engineers.

“Nor can we have a town without libraries, when we have a very high rate of university students, nor can we allow the Carrizal civic center to remain closed,” emphasized Padilla, who highlighted above all the future of the high-tension cable route. . "We are awaiting the formation and distribution of areas of the Government of the Canary Islands, so that as soon as that happens, we can request the suspension of any work or file related to the arrangement of the high-tension cable that they want to pass through the town of Ingenio," he said. .

For his part, the next mayor of Ingenio, José López Fabelo, acknowledged that the negotiations with PP-Somos accelerated - however, it is the first government agreement to be closed in Gran Canaria - upon receiving news that the PSOE “intended to leave us out”, agreeing with the rest of the forces with representation in the municipal plenary session.

“We have asked our assembly for its opinion on this pact, and also for them to consult the people. It was important to get the partner we chose right,” said López Fabelo, who thanked that it was a pact “based on loyalty,” to which he added that “we are united and this pact gives us peace of mind and guarantee, because we also have more councilors that we need,” he indicated.

Finally, the island president of the Popular Party, Miguel Jorge Blanco, reported on the “autonomy” that the PP of Ingenio has had to close this pact and emphasized that it is one of the agreements “that reflect greater popular will.” ”, while four parties are linked in two pre-electoral coalitions. “It is a moment of congratulations for the municipality of Ingenio,” he concluded.
