After 12 years of hiatus, the Islands are once again represented with folklore. Traditions, singing, chácaras and drums were the protagonists of the night, highlighting the participation of La Gomera. Maspalomas has revived a festival that many considered lost, in an exhibition with the best of each island.
Without a doubt one of the most important folklore festivals, the first to host the 8 Islands in the same space. Voices from the entire archipelago and more than 300 people from every corner of the Canary Islands have passed through the stage, with impeccable organization, where coexistence has been valued as a meeting point. The Plaza de San Fernando was prepared to receive the folkloric groups: AFC Umiaya from Gran Canaria; GF Los Majuelos, from Tenerife; AF Tetir, from Fuerteventura; AF Malpaís de la Corona, from Lanzarote; AF Choirs and Dances of La Gomera; Parranda los Toledo, from La Graciosa; AF Joapira from El Hierro and ACF Echentive, from La Palma. Many of the participants in this folk festival have come with their families as a tradition. People who once lived it with their parents and who, over the years, have now come with their children. 43 years since this festival began, turning Maspalomas into the epicenter of folklore in the Canary Islands.
It is also worth noting that on Friday night, the square was completely packed with performances by Abraham Mateo, Lérica, YedielDJ and Tony Bob. A success among young people who came there to enjoy a night of music and fun. The Patron Saint Festivities of Maspalomas in honor of San Fernando end today after 10 days with a space for culture, tradition, reunion but above all for Canarian heritage.
