The mayor of Santa Lucía, Francisco García López, assumed the presidency of the Intermunicipal Commonwealth of the Southeast of Gran Canaria this Tuesday, at the meeting of the Commonwealth Committee that took place at the headquarters of the Idam of the southeast in Pozo Izquierdo. At the meeting in which the mayor of Agüimes, Oscar Hernández, handed over the presidency to Francisco García, with the presence of the mayor of Ingenio, Ana Hernández. The other members of the committee also attended: the auditor, the treasurer and the secretary.
Francisco García stated that “I assume the rotating presidency for this coming year to continue the work that the three municipalities do jointly, in our usual line of dialogue, unanimously moving forward the projects that are of general interest to the citizens of Ingenio, Agüimes and Santa Lucía”.
The president of the Commonwealth of the Southeast announced that in 2022 the Southeast Fair will be held again, the last edition of which was suspended due to the covid 19 pandemic. Next year there will be two editions of this fair (the Crafts, Agriculture, Livestock and Tourism), the first in Agüimes, on March 25,26, 27 and 10,11, and another in Santa Lucía on June 12, 2022 and 24, 25. On September 2022 and XNUMX, XNUMX will be the Sun and Agri-Food Fair of the Southeast in Saint Lucia.
Another of the decisions made at the committee meeting this Tuesday is that starting in 2023 the Southeast Fair will be held in the month of March instead of in November as it was held until now. In 2022, the Sustainable Regions Seminar will also be held in Santa Lucía, at the Víctor Jara de Vecindario theater (on April 26 and 27). The 2023 Southeast Fair will be in Ingenio.
