Anesthesia in Las Palmas sinks Tirajana's PSOE

Yurena Vega Wednesday, June 07, 2023

What can you expect from a party that in Valsequillo has gone to the local elections with a green rose? That happened this spring and, to make matters worse, that brand sacrifice has been of no use. Establishing a stable local government arrangement involves two things: speed and speed. That is what was missing for the PSOE to seal an agreement either with AV-PP or with the Canarian Coalition (CC) to form a government pact. The doors were closed because the insular general secretary, the unretirable Sebastián Franquis, generated an incredible pact: AV-PP with CC.

And the island leadership of the PSOE insisted on keeping the agreement of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria with Nueva Canarias on the same agenda, believing in a 'majorera exit' of AV-PP. Franquis' kerosene experiment has burned Concepción Narváez and her media terminals associated with and protected by the Tirajana PSOE since 2019.

The failure in the south of Gran Canaria leaves a door open for Narváez although Nueva Canarias already has it closed. The socialists hope to stay with the Maspalomas Rehabilitation Consortium to have a certain margin of influence. Nueva Canarias wants to continue dominating that escape valve and put its local leader, who has maintained his five minutes as councillors, as the strong man. In San Bartolomé de Tirajana, a participation of 57,68% has been registered and a total of 20.501 votes counted, of which 1,01% are null, 0,95% blank and 42,31% are abstentions. With 100% scrutiny, PP-AV was the political party with the most votes in San Bartolomé de Tirajana in the municipal elections of May 28, obtaining 5.363 votes, with a percentage of 26,42% counted. In second place, CC with 23,79% of the votes, followed by PSOE (19,93%).
