One hundred Agents of the General Corps of the Canarian Police will carry out shooting practices this month at the Training Center of the Local Police of Santa Lucía de Tirajana
Shooting practice is mandatory for all agents who carry out surveillance or patrol services with their corresponding firearm. The Santa Lucía de Tirajana Security and Police Training Center is the first comprehensive training center for local police officers in Gran Canaria. The center was built thanks to financing from the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and the Santa Lucía town council.
The facilities, inaugurated last February, have a gym, a room of more than 200 meters for virtual shooting practice unique in the Canary Islands, a classroom for training and a room with a screen with software to recreate shooting situations. conflict. In this interactive classroom, up to 1.500 virtual realities can be represented so that police officers can train on different coexistence or security problems.
The acting mayor, Francisco García, visited the center this Friday and greeted the police officers who were carrying out shooting practice. García recalled that the training center is a space that can be used by local police officers from all the municipalities of Gran Canaria, the Canarian Police and other security forces.
