Siam Park: indifference in Maspalomas for the trolls of Loro Parque

Loro Parque's decision to present credentials in Las Palmas capital instead of the south of Maspalomas during the formation period of the governments of the island of Gran Canaria has been received with total indifference in the circles of economic power. Loro Parque, through employee Jaime Rodríguez, has estimated the lost profits from the delay of the investment at 120 million euros, which was partly from deferred taxes such as RIC and European incentives.

In the mathematics of Loro Parque, it is pointed out that Siam Park in the south has generated 10 million euros of expenses in its 30 years of delay, that is, 3 million annually (just over 330.000 euros per month since 2013). Among these expenses, it is worth highlighting the construction of a hotel with 150 rooms that would employ "600 people." These last are the figures given by the number two of Loro Parque Christoph Kiessling, who recalled in Las Palmas that he is of German nationality to assert the condition of strangeness due to the delay in the works.

On January 13, 2021, a ruling from the Supreme Court was published that annulled the 'Plan for Modernization, improvement and increased competitiveness in the area of El Veril', in San Bartolomé de Tirajana/Maspalomas. The court annulled the plan due to the absence of a report from the Gran Canaria Island Water Council on the availability of water resources. This ruling was appealed to the Supreme Court, which now rejects the appeal and makes the ruling of the TSJC final. The court asserts that there is no evidence that in the procedure for granting the concession a report was issued, guaranteeing the existence and availability of said necessary water resources.
