After the retirement of Rafael Sánchez Ramírez, a new scenario is emerging in the Commonwealth.
After the electoral hustle and bustle and with the batons of command distributed in the southeast of Gran Canaria, all eyes are now on the Commonwealth of the Southeast. Rafael Sánchez, who had been manager for more than two decades, announced at the beginning of the year that he would retire this summer, forcing the councilors of the three municipalities involved to look for a new profile to assume the position. It must also be taken into account that the presidency of the Commonwealth is in the hands of the Ingenio city council and as of last Saturday José López Fabelo was elected.
Shortly after Rafael's announcement about his intentions to retire, the mayor of Agüimes, Óscar Hernández stated that both he and his counterparts were already working on the search and the profile that they believed was most suitable for the position, reaching the conclusion of that the ideal profile would be one linked to the management of administrative processes.
For the moment, the chosen one has been Abel Ghosheh Lorenzo, a profile “unknown” to the citizens, but known by the Commonwealth, in which he provides his services and who has already assumed management momentarily. It is unknown if his provisional election will become indefinite with the passage of time, but for now he has already been a participant in the signing of the contract for waste collection in the Commonwealth.
After Rafael's announcement a few months ago, it was speculated that the management of the Commonwealth could fall to Agustín Trujillo, councilor of Roque Aguayro and knowledgeable of the dynamics in the Agüimes town hall and, therefore, of the processes that are carried out. in the Commonwealth. However, for now, everything seems to have remained a rumor.
With the political board already established in the three municipalities of the southeast, the only question left to resolve is who will be chosen to take over from Rafael Sánchez and manage the Commonwealth of the Southeast after two decades of stability in management.
