The residents of Cercados de Araña are preparing for their big days: the celebration of the San Juan Bautista festivities. The events begin this Friday and will continue throughout the weekend, ending on Sunday with religious and festive events.
The festival schedule is as follows:
Friday June 23
Early Friday morning, the neighborhood will begin its "decoration," a tradition carried out by the residents who decorate every street corner in preparation for the festivities. Later, at 21:00 p.m., the open-air dance will begin, featuring the group "Nueva Imagen y su Bandurria."
Saturday 24 June
Saturday will be the big day of the festivities, with the pilgrimage that will take place through the streets of the town starting at 19:00 p.m. For this pilgrimage, the Neighborhood Association has organized a float with typical dishes and musical accompaniment by the Parranda Merita la Pena for 25 euros. At 23:00 p.m. the festival will begin with the groups Formula Latina and D'Music.
Dominican 25 June
On the last day of celebration, the Holy Mass will be celebrated presided over by the parish priest Don Francisco Cruz at 13:00 p.m. Later, the procession will take place next to the images of San Juan Bautista and the Blessed Virgin of Fátima, with musical accompaniment by the band “La Charanguita”. At the end, the festivities will come to an end with the performance of “Grupo Mejicanos y Mariachis” and the traditional Verbena del Solajero with the group “D'Music”
