The keys to finding a job online, the objective of a course offered by the Maspalomas Summer University
How to find job offers on the Internet, using social networks, will be the training content of the 'Employability and Social Networks' course that will be offered, from July 3 to 7, by the XXXI edition of the Maspalomas Summer University.
Many people, especially between the ages of 35 and 50, have some difficulty finding employment using the tools and possibilities offered by new technological networks, despite the fact that, currently, more than 90% of job offers are published by these means.
Furthermore, added to this reality is that 70% of recruiters consult the digital information of applicants on social networks before deciding to hire, which makes it essential to have a good presence on the new dissemination channels.
This interesting course will be taught by Luis Aymerich and Iris Rivero, experts in new technologies. The practical classes will be held at the San Fernando Senior Sociocultural Center. Students must attend class equipped with a computer. Interested people can register through the website: https://www.universidadveranomaspalomas.org/materias/116/.
The program aims to work on the Personal Brand of each course attendee, adequately configure their profiles on Social Networks to improve their employability options and create more attractive and interactive digital resumes, taking advantage of new communication trends.
“We have detected that many applicants come from non-technological sectors,” says Iris Rivero, “and this leads them to be unaware of new ways to improve their employability.” Thus, when seeking to improve their jobs or facing the situation of being unemployed, "they resort to submitting their resumes, but this route is no longer widely accepted by most companies looking for workers."
Stand out from other applicants
In the 'Employability and social networks' course, students will work on new technological skills and, in this way, they will be able to stand out from many other applicants for the same position, thus improving their chances of finding work.
The speakers will also instruct them on the most appropriate content to give a correct personal 'image' and the digital tools to search and discover the vacancies that best suit them. In this sense, the agenda includes a day dedicated entirely to the social network LinkedIn, a professional network to find job offers anywhere in the world.
In this social network you will learn to create a complete personal profile, perform searches, locate more interesting profiles and pages, according to your objectives. In addition, the speakers will have the help of Diana Marín, an expert in social networks, to learn about the possibilities offered by other channels, such as Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
