The investigation has been carried out for nine months due to its high complexity, identifying one of the perpetrators and new arrests have not been ruled out due to these facts.
The Civil Guard of Gran Canaria, within the framework of “Operation Carnivale”, arrested on June 16 a 26-year-old man with no police record, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of robbery with force committed in the private address located in the municipality of Mogán.
The events occurred on September 18, when unknown persons accessed the habitual residence of a businessman living in the municipality of Mogán, taking advantage of the alleged perpetrators who left his home early in the morning, stealing a box from inside it. strong that contained personal documentation, 30.000 euros of cash and jewelry valued at approximately 3.000 euros.
Research and monitoring
Arriving at the scene, the Puerto Rico Civil Guard carried out the corresponding Ocular Inspection, being able to determine that the alleged perpetrators had accessed the building where the home was located, and after climbing to the roof of the building, they climbed down to the terrace of the residence of the victim, where they accessed the victim.
Having obtained and viewed the security recordings of both the building and other nearby places, the Civil Guard came to the conclusion that the alleged perpetrators would have the victim under surveillance and that they could know the routines of the injured party and his family, given that they began to operate just twenty minutes after he left his home. In the analysis of the recordings, it was possible to verify how at least two people arrived at the place by car, entered the building where the home was located, and subsequently introduced a very voluminous object covered with a sheet inside the vehicle, in which They later left the area.
Once these indications were obtained, a laborious investigation began in which computer and technical means of data analysis were used that allowed the identification of one of the alleged perpetrators, also counting on the collaboration of the specialized investigation unit of the Traffic Grouping.
Finally, and once identified, the result of the investigations carried out was made known to the competent Judicial Authority, determining the arrest of the alleged identified perpetrator and the referral of the police report to the competent Investigative Courts of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, continuing the operation. Police remains open and other arrests for these events are not ruled out.
