Party outings, concerts and festivals demand a large flow of this type of transport, but they also pose a risk to drivers due to the tension that is usually experienced in these situations and the use of alcohol or other substances.
On June 22, in Fuengirola, a VTC driver was brutally murdered at the hands of a passenger after a brawl. The event shocked the neighbors and the passenger transport sector, which has paid its respects to the deceased colleague and has made public the drivers' concern about the lack of protection to which they are exposed in night services.
Only two days after this tragic event, on the night of June 24, a taxi driver in the municipality of San Bartolomé, in Lanzarote, received a beating in the early hours of the morning in the vicinity of the Deiland Shopping Center. The facts were recorded on video and they have once again put this serious safety problem faced in the taxi and VTC sector in the media spotlight.
