The municipalities integrated into the Alliance of Tourist Municipalities (AMT) Sol y Playa, among which San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Mogán stand out, have transferred this week to the Secretary of State the conclusions arising from the study on the definition of 'Tourist Municipality' prepared by the entity, with the aim of improving its financing system. The minister of the sector is Héctor Gómez, who is from Tenerife.
The president of the AMT Sol y Playa, Pere Granados, accompanied by the president of the Hotel Technology Institute (ITH), Javier García, held a meeting this June with the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosana Morillo, in which he shared the main conclusions of a study that allows updating and renewing the definition of municipalities with a long history, in order to improve their system of
financing.
The Alliance of Sun and Beach Tourist Municipalities (AMT) was born from the initiative of 8 pioneer tourist destinations in Spain, such as Adeje, Arona, Benidorm, Calvià, Lloret de Mar, Salou, San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Torremolinos, whose tourist uniqueness and commitment to the digitalization of the sector, sustainability, accessibility, and cooperation between destinations, represents a set of common strengths that will allow them to maintain their leadership position in the sector.
In that sense, Pere Granados conveyed the peculiarities of the study carried out, after an in-depth analysis of similar realities in up to 40 countries in this matter. The meeting with Rosana Morillo also allowed Pere Granados to discuss other issues related to the current situation of the eight municipalities that are members of the AMT Sol y Playa. Pere Granados transferred the support of the AMT Sol y Playa to the work that the team led by Rosana Morillo is carrying out to meet the demands and needs of the coastal municipalities that are leading the country's economic recovery processes from the tourism sector.
For his part, after holding a meeting of the eight municipalities of the Alliance, Pere Granados also discussed with Morillo about the financing of projects of the tourist municipalities in the Tourism Sustainability Plans, to which some destinations of the Alliance have been presented. AMT, and additional aid from the Recovery Plan. Prior to the meeting with the tourism authority, the eight municipalities held a meeting of the AMT board, which served to advance new projects and issues related to the administrative functioning of the entity.
