Five cinemas in Gran Canaria benefit from the central executive subsidy to allow those over 65 years of age to enjoy cinema at a reduced price one day a week

Those over 65 years of age in Gran Canaria are in luck; Five cinemas on the island have joined the subsidy proposed by the central government a few months ago to facilitate access to culture for the elderly, offering cinema tickets for two euros to those over 65 years of age one day a week.

Specifically, the theaters on the island that will offer these services will be the Yelmo cinemas on the island, located in Vecindario, Las Arenas and los Alisios (in its premium version), OCINE in Siete Palmas and Artesiete in Las Terrazas. To benefit from this subsidy, tickets must be obtained at the ticket offices of the establishments and an official document (ID or Passport) must be provided to prove that the requirements to benefit are met.

The state budget for this new measure is 10 million euros and is framed within the General State Budgets of 2023 and joins other measures such as the Cultural Bonus of 400 euros for all those young people who turn 18 in 2023. Both The measures seek to encourage cultural consumption among citizens and also help the film industry after the hard years of the pandemic.
