The mayor of Mogán, Onalia Bueno, has welcomed the new staff of professionals who will ensure the security and correct order of the municipality. A total of 11 agents joined the Mogán Local Police Corps, this Monday, July 03, after their basic training period at the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands in Añaza, Tenerife.
Along with Bueno, the accidental Councilor for Citizen Security, Víctor Gutiérrez, as well as Jorge Alemán, head of the Local Police of Mogán and Ricardo Llarena, responsible for the Administrative Unit of the Local Police Corps, participated in this meeting.
The mayor wished the new staff luck, also asking them for dedication and professionalism. There are 11 agents, eight men and three women, who join the two who had previously joined the service.
After completing the training period at the academy from March to June 16, this Monday they begin Training at the Work Center (FCT) that will last until July 16. Subsequently, the period of 1200 hours of practice in the different units will begin.
Since 2015, the Government group has opened opposition processes through which 17 new members have joined. Specifically 4 in 2019 and now another 13. A need that the municipality had due to the shortage of agents. “The staff of the Local Police has decreased in recent years and what is up to us is to continue working to have enough troops on the street,” said Bueno, also highlighting that in the coming weeks the call for new positions will be issued. of the body for this year.
This increase in staff coincides with a period in which the municipality experiences an increase in its population, which is why the head of the Local Police, Jorge Alemán, highlights “the corporation's effort to have new personnel especially in this period summer where we have the municipal festivals and a large influx of tourists and visitors.”
