Bobby Rush , considered one of the legends of the blues, arrives at the Maspalomas Costa Canaria Soul Festival with the energy to show the audience why he deserved to win two Grammy Awards (2017 and 2021) and what his musical genre's contribution to soul music is. Rush will perform on Saturday, accompanied by Mississippi singer Mizz Lowe , on a stage he already knows well, as he was one of the artists who participated in the 2016 edition.
The Maspalomas Costa Canaria Soul Festival, held on San Agustín beach (Gran Canaria) from Friday, July 14th to Sunday, July 16th , will feature The Bo-Keys , a band based in Memphis, USA, as its resident act. Bobby Rush, who forged his career on the American chitlin' circuit, where sweaty, wild parties were held every night, released his latest album, *Rawer than Raw* , in 2021, for which he won the Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album. At over 80 years old, his energy on stage belies his age at every performance. The chitlin' circuit takes you to venues and theaters considered true temples of African American music, such as the Apollo in Harlem, the Regal in Chicago, the Howard in Washington, D.C., the Uptown in Philadelphia, and the Fox in Detroit—places where artists of the caliber of Duke Ellington, James Brown, B.B.
