Luis Campos warns that, if NC “is not” in Madrid, the 75% air and sea bonus will “fly away”

The congressional candidate on 23J and Santana present an electoral program with 100 measures, which serve one principle, 'We choose the Canary Islands. Always'

The candidate of Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-BC) to the Congress of Deputies for Las Palmas in the elections on July 23 (23J), Luis Campos, warned today that, if the Canarism of progress “is not there” represented in the Cortes Generales, will “fly” the 75% air and maritime bonus for residents, won by Pedro Quevedo in the Lower House. Campos and the candidate for the Senate for Gran Canaria, Txema Santana, presented an electoral program of 100 measures with the aim of advancing the Canary Islands, and that serve a Canarian principle of progress, We choose the Canary Islands. Always, motto chosen for this electoral event.

More than a hundred proposals, with a central idea that "appears in our motto" and two transversal elements, the defense of the Canary Islands in Madrid "with absolute conviction" and of democracy, rights and freedoms in the face of the danger of regression with the far right. With these words the two candidates defined the commitments assumed in this appointment with the polls.

En the relationship of the Canary Islands with the State, Luis Campos warned that if NC-BC “is not” in the Congress of Deputies and the Senate, the historical rights conquered “will disappear.” If “we do not have Canarian voices, like that of NC and as we have shown, they either forget about us or directly despise us,” denounced candidate Campos. For Nueva Canarias, failing to comply with the 2018 Statute is a “clear contempt for our jurisdiction and for those of us who live here,” he stressed.

Most of the advances in historical rights achieved in recent years, he continued, were thanks to Pedro Quevedo's vote 176. He referred, among others, to the latest reform of the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF), the treatment of islands in state budgets and the decoupling of tax revenues from the REF from a financing system, “vital” to maintain services. health, educational and social.

There are “many” measures that bear the “name and surname” of NC. But, "without a doubt", he continued, the "star", due to the importance of connectivity in the Archipelago, was the 75% bonus on inter-island transport and with the Peninsula. “If we are not there, starting on July 23 in Madrid, as on so many occasions and the metaphor is valid, 75% will fly,” Campos warned. An achievement, that like the previous ones, “you have to fight, every day in Madrid” to maintain it.

But Nueva Canarias also aspires to “advance in new conquests”, such as the achievement of public service obligations on air routes with the rest of the State, which will allow setting maximum prices and speculation. “We have to be able to preserve our jurisdictions” and, among others, guarantee that the Canary Islands are, at least, in the average of the communities in state territorial investment, Campos demanded.

In relation to the increase in the level of self-government, NC-BC will demand the entry of Canary Islands in the management of State airports, 24-hour opening of airport facilities that do not yet operate all day and the frontal rejection of the privatization of the control towers. Compliance with article 144.3, which allows the community to participate in State forums on immigration matters that affect them, is a commitment that the Canarian movement for progress will attack in the next legislature in the Cortes Generales.

Defending the Canarian identity, for Txema Santana, is also expressed in the field of migration. “We continue to demand greater commitment” from the State to the islands, with a center where people can be served in the best conditions, with referrals sustained over time and with the greatest possible transparency to avoid the collapse of management in a reception territory. How is the Canary Islands? In the NC program, according to Txema Santana, there are “solutions” and effective measures.

The Senate candidate opted to project the influence and relations of the community with the African continent, starting with Morocco and passing through Senegal and Mauritania, among the main ones. The “Canarian voice” that NC-BC represents in Madrid, Santana continued, will also be in favor of a greater presence in these diplomatic relations of the State with neighboring countries.

Nueva Canarias, Campos resumed, is committed to a State model that progresses in collective and individual freedoms, strong in its state of well-being, plural, sensitive to territorial diversity and committed to the fight against climate change, sustainability and renewable energies. .

The state government, for the Canarismo of progress, has to favor smaller pensions, especially non-contributory ones, of which the Canary Islands register a significant number. In the same sense, the candidate referred to the Congress of Deputies to achieve a housing plan, as a basis for the construction of protected public housing. Limiting rental prices in stressed areas and acquisition by outsiders for speculative purposes are also measures that NC will propose.

The defense of democracy, gender equality, the advances of feminism and the fight against gender violence will be an “essential” issue of NC's work in the next four years in the Cortes Generales. With greater intensity in the face of the dangerous discourse of the extreme right, Luis Campos warned.
