The well-known actress teaches the course 'Character creation and adaptation to film or theater' at the Maspalomas Summer University

Silvia Marsó defines the Canary Islands as a place where “I like everything about it: the food, the landscapes, the people, the nature, the climate… It is an ideal place to live,” highlighted the well-known actress, who teaches, during this week, the course 'Character creation and adaptation to film or theater', within the Maspalomas Summer University program.
The actress, singer and producer recalled that her last visit to Gran Canaria was in 2019, to perform the play '24 hours in the life of a woman' at the Pérez Galdós Theater, based on the novel of the same name by the Austrian writer Stefan Zweig. The show visited numerous cities in the national territory “and it was a very nice experience because of the importance that being part of it meant for my career,” said the actress.
Currently, Marsó is immersed in the national tour of the multidisciplinary show 'Blues & Roots', her debut in stage direction and playwriting, in addition to her performances as a singer in the 'Del Toro Blues Band', with which she prepares his next concert on the stage of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, which he will set foot on for the first time.
Since he was young, the Canary Islands destination already appears in his professional biography, with work in theaters in both Gran Canaria and Tenerife. Years later she participated in the Las Palmas Film Festival, in which she was a presenter and participated as a member of the jury. On other occasions, the islands have been the scene of various filming, such as the short 'Criadas', which she took to Tenerife, from the hands of the Canarian filmmaker Javier Fernández Caldas.
A course for everyone
With the course 'Character creation and adaptation to film or theater', which has filled all its places, Silvia Marsó shows students the guidelines from which they can “develop a capacity for observation that allows them to differentiate the energies necessary in the representation of a character in theater compared to other media.”
The training program is aimed at people "who are curious to know how a theatrical character is prepared, in addition to the difference that exists between acting in theater and acting in film or television."
“Above all, we will talk about how to analyze the characters well to identify the appropriate form of interpretation for each medium, a task that entails a deep prior analysis,” adds the actress.
Silvia Marsó is a member of the Academy of Performing Arts of Spain, an entity that has signed an agreement with the Maspalomas Summer University, to have prominent figures from cinema, theater and other artistic disciplines in each edition, to participate in the courses and workshops of the dean summer university of the Canary Islands.
A very well-known face
Silvia Marsó, a well-known face in Spanish cinema and theater, has played more than 100 characters in 22 films, 28 series and 24 plays. She has received more than 15 awards and nominations for her work.
In theater he has worked under the direction of Andrés Lima, Xavier Albertí, Miguel Narros, Adolfo Marsillach, Natalia Menéndez, Victor Sánchez Rodríguez, Sergio Peris Mencheta, Jaime Chávarri, Amelia Ochandiano and Juan Carlos Pérez de la Fuente, among others. She has starred in works such as 'The Glass Menagerie', 'Yerma', 'Doña Rosita the Bachelorette', 'A Doll's House', 'The Great Market of the World' and 'The Great Sultana', to name just a few.
In 'I love you, you're perfect', 'I'll change you' (Max 2001 Best Musical) and '24 hours in the life of a woman' (Broadway WorldSpain Best Musical) she developed her role as an actress-singer, which earned her the Gresol Award and nominations for the Valle Inclán Award and the Musical Theater Awards.
In cinema, his performances stand out in 'The Conspiracy' by Pedro Olea, 'Love, Curiosity, Prozak and Doubts' (Málaga Festival Interpretation Award) and 'The Dead Mother of Juanma Bajo Ulloa', among other titles. In series, 'Merlisápereaude ', 'The Secret of the Old Bridge', 'Velvet', 'Gran Hotel', 'Gran Reserva-El Origin', 'Cuéntame', 'Ana and the Seven', 'Let's Get to Work' and 'Kangaroos' are some of the work carried out.
