The Carmen Festival in Playa de Mogán starts with a program full of activities

 

This morning the program for the Playa de Mogán Carmen Festival was presented, which will take place from July 16 to 30.

 

The mayor, Onalia Bueno, accompanied by the Councilor for Events, Culture, and Festivities of the Mogán Town Hall, Mencey Santana , in a warm atmosphere by Mogán beach, publicly thanked everyone who participated in making the festivities possible. “We have a great program, varied and diverse, for all ages,” Santana stated.

 

 

With the Carmen festivities in Arguineguín culminating this week with the maritime procession, the festivities in Playa de Mogán begin, which differ from the former by being more welcoming and family-oriented, a festival where neighbors from all neighborhoods come together to enjoy Canarian culture.

 

The Councillor for Events, Culture, and Festivities confirmed that, as a new feature this year, “a Senior Citizens' Day has been created with a show called 'Laughter with Tequila, Salt, and Lime by Mariachi Peleón and Matías Alonso'.” For her part, Onalia Bueno emphasized that “this marks the culmination of the Carmen festivities month, both in the fishing district of Arguineguín and in Mogán beach.”

 

This year's program is dedicated to Josefa Alonso, "one of the oldest remaining residents of Playa de Mogán, a woman who recites poetry frequently and has a remarkable memory," explained the mayor. A highlight of the program is undoubtedly the trip to Fuerteventura, taking place from August 4th to 6th. The price is €245 per person, including airfare, transfers within the island, entrance to Oasis Park, the Occidental Hotel , Jardín Playa (all-inclusive), and insurance. Also of interest is the excursion to Lake Taurito, taking place on Wednesday, August 2nd. It is free for children aged 0-3, costs €6 for children aged 4-12, and €16 for adults aged 13 and over. Mayor Bueno stated that this program “is not only for residents, but also for all the tourists who visit us and who are loyal to Playa de Mogán during the summer season.”

 

Highlights of the program include the Mass and procession on Our Lady of Mount Carmel Day, marking the start of the festivities, as well as the Seafood Gastronomy Fair. The card tournaments of zanga, cinquillo, dominoes, and parcheesi will also be available for all residents, regardless of age, along with traditional games such as tag, sack races, and treasure hunts—activities that foster community spirit. Another major attraction will be the open-air cinema, a family-friendly event taking place in Plaza de las Gañanías, featuring films like 'Coco', 'Father There Is Only One 3', and 'Aladdin' . But this won't be the only activity for the whole family to enjoy. On July 23rd, the afternoon will be filled with color and fantasy at the children's and youth play park , and on Saturday, July 29th, Family Jumping Mogán will offer parents and children a fun-filled day of family activities.

 

The lively music and performances will illuminate the various stages set up for the festivities. Tribute acts like those to Marc Anthony and Celia Cruz and Óscar de León will get everyone dancing. Armonía Show, Paco Guedes , La Mekánica by Tamarindos, and DJ Promaster will provide the entertainment for the evenings, bringing the Fiestas del Carmen to a close. The festivities will be filled with activities for all ages, variety, and above all, a desire to have fun.
