Two new emergency vehicles for the security of Santa Lucía de Tirajana

 

The mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Francisco García and the advisor of Institutional Cooperation of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Carmelo Ramírez, presented this Friday in the Town Hall two new Emergency vehicles for Civil Protection that were acquired thanks to the support of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria through the Cooperation Plan with City Councils. Materials and uniforms were also presented for the fifty Civil Protection volunteers acquired with municipal funds. Present at the event were a group of volunteers from the Civil Protection of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, the councilor for Civil Protection, Franscico Guedes, the councilor for the Environment, Mario Bordón, the councilor for Economic Development, Sergio Vega and those responsible for Civil Protection and Local Police.  

 

The total investment has been 100.000 euros. The main vehicle is equipped with a light generating motor, different lighting sources, binoculars, signaling cones, fire extinguisher, rechargeable flashlights with their corresponding signaling cones, two ladders and one of them telescopic, winch, tow ball, fixed radio type Tetra, the rear part of the vehicle is equipped with drawers and rails for material, and has lighting inside and outside the vehicle. 

 

This vehicle can be used for prevention and also for intervention in fires, rescue, search or floods. The second 4x4 Land Cruiser type vehicle with a 7-seat capacity has a tow ball, lighting spotlight, flashlights with their signaling cones, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, and fixed tetra equipment. It is intended for different services carried out in matters of security and emergencies.

 

 

 

 

 

New materials were also presented for Civil Protection volunteers that were exhibited inside the Town Halls. Intervention uniforms with pants and jacket, intervention boots, gloves, F1 and F2 type helmets, socks, pants, jackets, masks, belts, backpacks and bags to carry all material. 

 

Mayor Francisco García took advantage of the presence of the Civil Protection volunteers to “thank them for the work they do throughout the year, their altruistic presence in all mass events, and their work in emergency situations, always concerned about the safety of our neighbors. The first mayor also thanked “the Gran Canaria Council, which in recent years has been providing vehicles, security and emergency materials and other resources that contribute to having a safer municipality.” The Councilor for Institutional Cooperation of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Carmelo Ramírez, pointed out that from the council we are going to continue supporting the municipalities so that they have sufficient resources so that they can better deal with emergency and security situations. 

 

The Councilor for Civil Protection, Francisco Guedes, stated that “with these vehicles and this material, the volunteers will be able to do their work better in emergency situations. We believe that we must value the 50 volunteers from the Civil Protection of Santa Lucía. of Tirajana who altruistically are in all the important events held in our municipality.” The Chief Commissioner of the Local Police, José Luis Herrera, spoke along the same lines, highlighting “the important role of the Civil Protection volunteers who are always there, every time we need them, they do not hesitate to come to help the neighbors.” Along the same lines, the Managing Director of the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium, Emilio Duch, who highlighted “the important work of each Civil Protection, because they know the neighbors and that makes work in emergency situations much easier when "We need everyone's collaboration."
