The parties that make up the government group of the Santa Lucía de Tirajana City Council (Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista, PSOE and Unidos por Gran Canaria) approved in the municipal plenary session held this Thursday in the Town Hall Houses to maintain the salaries that the previous Municipal Corporation had . In the same plenary session, two files for extrajudicial recognition of credit were approved.
In the debate on the approval of the remuneration of the councilors of the government group, no opposition spokesperson wanted to intervene. The Councilor for Human Resources, Ofelia Alvarado, intervened to explain that “what we fully bring today is to maintain the same salaries that have been charged since January, which will maintain the salaries that the previous Municipal Corporation had been charging during this term.” .
In the file brought to the plenary session, a report from the municipal auditor is included which indicates that the remuneration of the members of local corporations on a dedicated basis is set by Law 31/2022, of December 23, on the General State Budgets for the year 2023. The legislation states that “The remuneration limit is for a municipality between 50.001 and 75.000 inhabitants, quantitatively, it represents a ceiling in the amount of 75.504,62.” In the case of the mayor of Santa Lucía, the salary is 18.986 euros below that limit.
According to the latest ISPA report on the salaries of elected public officials, published by the Ministry of Finance with data for 2021, although Santa Lucía de Tirajana is the third largest municipality in Gran Canaria due to its population, the salary of its mayor ranks eighth. place on the island for his remuneration. Of the 15 councilors of the government group, only the councilor of Unidos por Gran Canaria, Sergio Vega, will have part-time dedication, while the rest will have full-time dedication.
The other two items on the agenda approved in the plenary session that barely lasted ten minutes were two files of extrajudicial recognition of credits. The Councilor for the Treasury, Roberto Ramírez, explained that "They are invoices that have been repaired for not complying with the annuality principle, so we must apply them to the current budget year, 16 suppliers are affected, for an amount of 407 euros." The other approved recognition file has an amount of 831 euros.
La Fortaleza spokesperson Pedro Sánchez stated that his group would not vote against “so as not to harm suppliers, but we do want to remind them that this should be the exception and not the rule.”
