Urban planning promotes the minor modification of the PGOU that will allow the Principado aparthotel to be converted into a five-star hotel

The municipal plenary session of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana city council today unanimously approved authorizing the joint organization and celebration of the 120.000th Maspalomas Costa Canaria International Tourism Forum; as well as the collaboration agreement to be signed together with the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for its development. As explained by the Councilor for Tourism, Yilenia Vega (CC), the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council will contribute 60.000 euros for its development, which added to the 180.000 euros injected by the Island Administration will mean a total investment of XNUMX euros. Vega highlights that the Forum “offers the ideal framework to analyze trends, exchange opinions and experiences on the main problems and solutions of the sector; Therefore, providing continuity and betting on the excellence of this meeting is an investment in the immediate future of Maspalomas Costa Canaria.”
The forum will be held under the theme “Challenges and opportunities for the Tourism sector” on November 23 and 24, 2023. It will be held with the collaboration of the World Tourism Organization and includes eight round tables, five conferences masterclasses as well as the delivery of the II Atlantic Award. It will also have parallel events such as Debate days, a Gastroforum and a Scientific Congress.
On the other hand, the Urban Planning Department led by Alejandro Marichal (CC) also received the vote in favor to carry out the minor modification of the Planning Plan that will allow the Principado aparthotel to be transformed into a five-star hotel. As Marichal explained, “the file that began in 2018 has been slowed down by the indications of the regional environmental body, in addition to the report issued by the Ministry of Tourism that reported unfavorably on the promoter's initial project, as it included an increase in the number of beds.”
Finally, after rectifying the project, the developer maintains the current number of beds and increases the benefits and quality of the building.
