The Police continue searching for the perpetrator of spills in Agüimes

Gara Hernandez Tuesday, August 01, 2023

Do you remember a lodging company that in June 2023 was reported for spills? Police authorities are looking for someone to impose a fine of 100.000 euros after dumping waste such as bathtubs, sheets and debris in protected spaces. They have been dealing with this file since April and the pressure to punish those responsible has generated leaks of names of companies unrelated to that procedure.

Since last June, agents from the General Corps of the Canarian Police and the Local Police of Las Palmas have been searching for the waste management company for dumping waste in ravines located in the municipalities of Agüimes and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The investigation began because 14 fiber tubs were found abandoned in Las Palmas in the bed of the San Lorenzo ravine, an area whose soil is protected for its agricultural value. Packaging of shower trays were also found. Based on customer data provided by the company, the recent purchase of 25 shower trays by the hotel company was detected.

This is a joint action carried out in the month of April by the Environmental Group (GRUMA) of the General Corps of the Canarian Police and agents of the Environmental Group of the Mediation and Coexistence Unit (UMEC) of the Capital Local Police within the functions of environmental protection that both security forces have been carrying out.
