The exhibition brings together at the House of Culture, starting on August 7, the work of the three creators Mercedes Ley, Nuria del Pino and Guacimara Melián
The 'Itinerary' Plastic Arts circuit promoted by the Culture Department of the Gran Canaria Cabildo through its Plastic Arts Center, returns to the halls and houses of culture of the island's municipalities with a renewed offer of new proposals and exhibitions.
One of them is the case of the group exhibition 'Salino' that brings together the work of three women artists: Guacimara Melián, Nuria del Pino and Mercedes Ley, which opens on August 7 at the Pancho Guerra de Tunte Culture House , in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. This exhibition will be open until the 27th of this month, in whose organization the city council of the aforementioned municipality has collaborated, which can be enjoyed from Monday to Friday, from 16:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m.
The saltpeter that emerges on the land and sea has trapped these three creative women who live and work near the coast, in a project that shows the differentiated visions and looks with which each of them assumes the plastic representation of the elements. linked to saline. This is why their works are impregnated with lights, colors and textures that make us perceive the differentiated vision of what is common to all three: the island, where seas, rocks, skies and suns come together. Everything seems to come together in a jump of shores, 'Salino'.
Water and earth
From the shore to the interior and to the depths of the sea, these works serve as a vehicle to enter the inner landscape of the human being. The water and land essential for life are represented in a unique and different way in Guacimara Melián, Nuria del Pino and Mercedes Ley.
In the case of Guacimara Melián, the sea is a changing landscape, a corner of tranquility, “a reflection of my personality that becomes the desire to transfer it to my works. The human figure is situated in space that is sometimes infinite, other times close, of blue, white and ocher oil paints, and also in unlikely tones,” says the artist who resides in Playa de Arinaga. Her works tell us not only about the sea, but also about the place that people occupy in it. They tell us about physical and spiritual spaces before the immensity of nature.
For her part, Nuria del Pino points out that her work “has to do with space and our relationship with it, with the search for our true nature, with what is inside and outside us, with the universe, with everything. The wide, immense desert landscape that surrounds me on the island of Fuerteventura is a constant in my work and serves as a vehicle for me to delve into the inner landscape of the human being.” These iconic territories and landscapes invite us to ask how and when they were formed and, mainly, what are the reasons for their visibility in the artistic field of Nuria del Pino.
Finally, the artist Mercedes Ley presents in 'Salino' a retrospective tour of her production, which addresses the unpredictable flow of the matter that surrounds her continuously.
