The mobile application for hiking lovers and devotees of the Virgen del Pino, 'Vamos Pa'l Pino', is now a reality. This innovative application, promoted by the Teror City Council, was presented this Thursday morning at the Municipality's Tourist Interpretation Center and offers all the information necessary to follow the traditional pilgrimage routes and live an enriching experience towards the Villa Mariana of the location.
Present at the presentation ceremony were the Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo; the mayor of the Teror City Council and the Councilor for Tourism of the Teror City Council, Sergio Nuez and Laura Quintana; the president of the Canarian Mountain Federation, Enrique Morales; the director of Institutional Relations of Cajasiete, José Manuel Garrido; and the director of the Escalera de Fumío and co-organizer with Trackinsport of 'Vamos Pa'l Pino', Néstor Domínguez.
Carlos Álamo highlighted that “this project also serves to check two boxes of relevance for the sector and, especially, to work in tune with the new tastes and priorities of the post-covid client, as it is a step in the advancement of the digitalization of our destination, offering a platform that allows you to approach our network of trails from anywhere in the world, and to add to the values of environmental conservation, respect and sustainability of our natural environment.”
“This is a project that combines all the potential that Gran Canaria has in this sense and that is clearly summarized in the 20 trail routes that lead to Teror, which if I am not mistaken also unites us with the habits and mobility of our ancestors. ", highlighted the Tourism Minister, who added that "the natural environment of the municipality of Teror, where everything comes together, is an example of the great scenic beauty that we enjoy and that allows us to position ourselves in the tourism market with a product that is as attractive as it is unique. For this reason, it is important that respect and conservation prevail, when we are talking about trails that are one of the main assets of Gran Canaria in the face of the new tastes of today's tourist clients and, therefore, we must take care of them so that they remain clean." .
Sergio Nuez pointed out that "the 'Vamos Pal'Pino' app is an excellent tool to promote and energize the municipality beyond the month of September and the Pine Festival. It allows us to activate and encourage visits to the town 365 days a year. , because any time is favorable to travel the varied paths that start from each of the municipalities of the island.”
The president of the Canarian Mountain Federation stressed “the importance of promoting hiking and mountaineering activity as healthy and enriching practices for the local community and visitors.” In this sense, Enrique Morales highlighted the value of the 'Vamos Pa'l Pino' application, which offers "safe routes in contact with nature."
For his part, José Manuel Garrido presented Cajasiete's role as collaborator and sponsor of the project. He highlighted that “the financial support of the entity contributes to the development and sustainability of the ‘Vamos Pa´l Pino’ application.
Néstor Domínguez explained in detail the functionalities of the mobile application 'Vamos Pa'l Pino' and how users can access traditional paths and places of interest. “This app highlights the importance of recovering the traditional paths and their meaning for devotees and the general public, on their pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pine in Teror,” added the director of the Escalera de Fumío and co-organizer of this initiative. .
'Vamos Pa'l Pino' is a complete digital guide with extensive information about each path, including a navigation map, a practical audio guide, photos and videos that highlight the most important data of each route. Users will be able to immerse themselves in the history and traditions surrounding these traditional routes. One of the most innovative features of this app is the ability to make promises and share them with friends and family. “Users will be able to express their devotion and commitment, strengthening their ties with the Virgen del Pino and with the community of pilgrims who follow these paths,” said Néstor Domínguez.
The app has been designed with ease of use in mind, allowing users to explore the pilgrimage paths seamlessly. The app, available for Android and iOS, can be used without an internet connection, ensuring that maps and information are available at all times, even in the most remote areas of the routes.
In addition, those brave pilgrims who successfully complete the path will be rewarded with a digital badge, which can later be exchanged for the commemorative patch, a tangible symbol of their achievement and dedication on their journey to the Virgen del Pino.
This initiative also has the support and collaboration of the Gran Canaria Tourist Board, Cajasiete, the Canarian Mountaineering Federation and the Faculty of Geography and History of the ULPGC.
