Agents of the Civil Guard have dismantled a criminal organization based in Gran Canaria, which is dedicated to promoting irregular immigration, inducing the abandonment of minors and drug trafficking on a smaller scale.
In the development of the investigation, Civil Guard agents have been able to verify that in criminal activities aimed at promoting irregular immigration for profit, there was a close relationship between its members, with a clearly defined distribution of roles, meeting and contacting to commit criminal acts, from which a distinction would be derived at the level of criminal responsibility. Among these activities would be the party in charge of contacting unaccompanied foreign minors (MENAS) who would like to travel to the European continent, providing documentation to travel illegally, purchasing plane tickets and offering them accommodation, among others.
As a result of the information obtained in the development of the investigation and its analysis, it was possible to determine the existence in the town of San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Las Palmas), of a criminal organization, which until the moment of its dismantling and periodically, they would provide falsified/usurped documentation to different MENAS who had previously been captured in some of the minor centers on the island, and who after fleeing from them, were regrouped in stays provided by the Organization until the moment of their final departure from the Canary Islands. . Also, those investigated had a person in the province of Barcelona, who put the minors in contact with the organization.
Since their arrival from African territory to the MENAS reception centers where the young people were supervised by the administration, the organization monitored them in detail, taking the opportunity to recruit other minors who were admitted to other centers, inducing them in turn to their abandonment. Once the terms for their departure had been agreed, the organization itself was in charge of all the logistical tasks, providing documentation (usurped or falsified), the purchase of plane tickets, accommodation and travel.
For these criminal tasks, minors or their families paid the organization amounts that could range between €600 and €1000, depending on the destination requested. During the investigation period, which began in January 2023, the organization would have made more than 30 trips with minors.
Likewise, it was verified during the development of the investigation that this organization was dedicated to the retailing of narcotic substances.
The police operation culminated with two searches in two properties located in the town of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, where various documentation was seized, including documentation previously used by the MENAS to travel, shipping receipts and money receipts, and money receipts were seized. 500 grams of hashish prepared in doses for distribution
