The Gloria Thalasso & Hotels chain, owner of three establishments in the south of Gran Canaria, two in Amadores and one in San Agustín, is going to launch a plan to provide its employees with affordable housing of up to 56 square meters in view of the problems they have on the island of Lanzarote to be able to develop the business, as confirmed by a director of the Mañaricua family group. This housing expense for the staff represents 30% of their salary. In view of the land problems, given that the RIC does not allow the regulated construction of real estate developments, this model will be developed because in the long run it consolidates labor.
Thus, the new hotel in which the chain is investing 88 million euros is going to launch 60 homes on two plots that have 20.000 square meters purchased two months ago. The rent to the workers will be at a symbolic price given that what the chain wants is to reinforce quality labor and this is done by having the staff highly integrated in the permanent improvement of the service. It is not the first operation of Gloria Thalasso & Hotels in Lanzarote since the group has a presence in Puerto del Carmen.
The company has started an internal contest among workers to find a name for the five-star luxury complex in Teguise and the property will be designed by architect José María Pérez, who spent more than two decades working with César Manrique. The plot for the hotel is 80.000 meters. It is expected to be completed within three years, it will have 6 swimming pools, several waterfalls, a spa and 356 rooms. In August 2019, the Teguise City Council (Lanzarote) granted the license to Gloria Palace to establish a hotel in Costa Teguise with capacity for 709 beds, linked to health tourism, thus representing one of the largest private investments in the tourist area of the municipality. around 100 million.
Gloria Palace will thus add its fifth hotel to its portfolio, after opening 'Gloria Palace Amadores' (392 rooms), 'Gloria Palace Royal' (197), 'Gloria Izaro Club' (108), and 'Gloria Palace San Agustín' '(448). The 'Gloria Palace Costa Teguise' will be its first 5-star Grand Luxury and its inauguration is scheduled for 2027. The accommodation will be operated as a property, like the rest of the exponents in its portfolio. Gloria Palace operates through the public limited company Tourin European, chaired by Valentina Aristondo Mejías, with corporate positions in several real estate companies. The future accommodation is a unique project that establishes an interaction between the environment, the geology of the place, ethnographic culture, salt production, sports, aquatic therapies and the current social economic activity of the island such as tourism. The establishment will have 3 single rooms; 252 double rooms, of which seven will be adapted; 40 suites, two of them adapted; 60 suites with their own pool, two adapted; and a premium suite with its own large pool.
