Urban planning paralyzes the works on the Juan Grande photovoltaic park until September

 

The Urban Planning Department of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana city council, directed by Davinia Ramírez (CC), has reached an agreement with the company Energy Solutions by Scandinavians to paralyze the earthmoving work carried out in Juan Grande, for the installation of a photovoltaic park. With this agreement, the company undertakes to continue with these works starting in September, the month in which the force of the wind loses power in that area, thus reducing by a high percentage the amount of dust that is raised when removing the earth. 

 

The company has committed that, during the month of August, only the fencing work in the area will be done and that starting in September, when the work resumes, it will be watered more frequently to soak the plot on which it is located. Work to do it on wet terrain and you will have gravel roads for trucks and heavy machinery to travel on. With these measures, the Urban Planning councilor points out, “the company, which is aware of the damage that it is currently causing to the neighbors, has shown its total willingness to adopt solutions that reduce the emission of suspended dust and stop harming to the affected neighbors.”

 

 

 

In this way, the city council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and the company Energy Solutions by Scandinavians provide a solution after on July 20, the Urban Discipline service of the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana issued an execution order for the company all appropriate corrective and safety measures were used to avoid the rise of dust and dirt generated by the works carried out on three plots of Juan Grande. 

 

The first deputy mayor, Alejandro Marichal, points out that although the objective of the Urban Planning Department is to “reach out to the business community to promote investments in the municipality, it is also a priority to defend the rights and well-being of the neighbors. "It is possible that economic growth and social well-being coexist, especially when we talk about betting on works that allow sustainable growth and the commitment to renewable energies." In this sense, he adds that the council maintains negotiations for the installation of a corridor with vegetation that protects the surrounding neighborhoods from dust. 

 

Regarding the complaint filed by the neighbors before the Deputy of the Common regarding the installation of a dryer for sludge from treated water in the same area, Marichal clarifies that the file was paralyzed by the Government of the Canary Islands, on June 26 of this year, before “the impossibility of continuing with the environmental impact assessment procedure.” For this reason, the project denounced by the neighbors "no longer exists" and, in any case, the first deputy mayor points out, the negotiations begun with the company "in case they want to resume it, include an agreement so that the new "The project has the premise of 'zero emissions', which will prevent bad odors from reaching the surrounding neighborhoods." Likewise, they have been required that the entire procedure be “totally transparent and carried out with the opinion and indications of the neighbors,” concludes Marichal.
