The Mogán City Council recovers the Avocado Fair on December 5

Newsroom Wednesday, October 27, 2021

The Department of Rural Development led by councilor Ernesto Hernández is already working on what will be the sixth Mogán Avocado Fair

It will be celebrated on December 5 and calls on farmers in the municipality as well as artisans of manufactured products to participate. Those who wish to do so can register until Thursday, November 11.

After a whole 2020 and the passing of 2021 without primary sector fairs in the municipality due to COVID-19, the City Council brings back this event to promote one of the Mogan crops par excellence, avocado. Hernández assures that "among the objectives of the Consistory has always been to make our primary sector known" and that "now that the health crisis gives us a break, we take advantage of the opportunity to recover the Avocado Fair in a controlled way, with security measures and timely prevention against COVID-19, trusting that, as in previous years, it will once again be a success.”

At this Fair the star will be the so-called green gold of Mogán, the avocado, although those who decide to enjoy it will also find other fruits and vegetables grown by the farmers of the municipality, and products made in an artisanal way such as wine, bread, sweets, jams, oil, etc. However, unlike previous editions, in next December there will be no catering positions to, the mayor points out, "comply with the anti-COVID-19 protocol." “We could not guarantee safety by enabling an area for the dispensing and eating of food when we expect to receive thousands of people in a limited space,” he explains.

The Mogán Avocado Fair will take place on Manuel Álamo Suárez Avenue (Carpintero de Ribera), previously known as Muelle Avenue, in Arguineguín, and therefore, it will be outdoors, although with limited capacity, since visitors must enter at one end and exit at the other.

Hernández encourages all farmers, artisans and artisans to participate again in this event with a booth. You can register until next November 11 by presenting your application and documentation at the General Registry of the City Council (Avenida de la Constitución 4, Mogán), through the Citizen Service Office (Municipal Offices of Arguineguín, Calle Tamarán 4) , or by municipal electronic headquarters. The documentation to be presented as well as the bases are available for consultation in the digital notice board of the Mogán City Council.
