Tourism in Milan visits Gran Canaria with Binter

Relations between the OTS of Milan and the airlines began in 2021 with the opening of direct routes between the Canary Islands and Italian airports

María Isabel Garaña points out that “Gran Canaria is an excellently well-positioned destination in Italy and at the same time has a lot of growth potential.”

 

Gran Canaria Tourism received a visit from a delegation from the Spanish Tourism Office (OET) in Milan, led by Binter, a company that opted to unite the island destination with cities in northern Italy, within its operations in this country. , with direct routes. During the visit, carried out between July 15 and 18, the presence of María Isabel Garaña Corce, Tourism Minister of the OTS of Milan, stood out, along with personalities from her team such as Teresa Vicente de Juan, Management technician, and Teresa Sánchez González, Tourism technician. In the meeting that took place at the Gran Canaria Tourism offices on Triana Street, with the presence of the Minister of Tourism of Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo, representatives of Binter also participated, such as Noelia Curbelo, head of Institutional Relations and Communication; Samuel Ferrera, head of Network Planning; and  Alejandro Díaz, head of Marketing. 

 

María Isabel Garaña explained that the Milan OTS signed a collaboration agreement in 2021 with Binter, with the aim of carrying out joint promotional actions on the occasion of the opening of the Canarian airline's operations in Italy. “For us, connectivity is the most important factor when promoting Spanish products and destinations. We strongly support the establishment and effort of this strategic factor,” said the counselor responsible for the Milan OTS. “It is a very profitable collaboration with Binter, with intense work that began in October 2021 and that we conclude now, which is why we wanted to do it here, in Gran Canaria,” added Maria Isabel Garaña, since although Binter “connects ” with the rest of the Islands, “Gran Canaria is an excellently well-positioned destination in Italy and at the same time presents a lot of growth potential.”

 

“It is a destination that is working with a very high level of excellence, very well known and appreciated and that has a lot of potential due to how the tourist offer of this island is currently developing towards the Italian market,” Garaña explained before highlighting tourist segments. such as gastronomy, culture, active and nature tourism, in addition to the basic Sun and Beach offer. Under the criteria of the OTS representative, Gran Canaria has a particularly rich complementary offer that adds value to the destination. “For us, cooperating with Turismo de Gran Canaria and Binter is a constant and will continue to be so.” 

 

The Minister of Tourism of Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo, thanked the visit and the determined commitment of the OTS and Binter to promote the destination. “It is a market that has grown a lot in recent years, which increases customer spending on the Island and is interested in getting to know all of Gran Canaria, which is why we consider it key to our strategy,” he noted before congratulating Binter for its bet, “which has made it possible to demonstrate that many routes that we have defended for years are profitable for companies, in fact many other airlines are following Binter's example,” he noted.

 

The representation of Binter, for its part, expressed its gratitude to the institutions for the support received,  which undoubtedly represents a boost for the rise and consolidation of the connections that the Canary Islands airline offers with Italy.

 

During the stay, the Gran Canaria Tourism technical team designed a visit program that allowed the OTS group from Milan to visit some of the points of greatest tourist interest. In this way, they learned in depth about the attractions and benefits of the Gran Canaria offer and collaborated in the objective of training these specialists in the task of attracting clients to destinations in Spain such as Gran Canaria. 

 

The OTS group was accompanied by technical specialists from the Tourism area of ​​the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and they learned about some points of tourist interest on the island. In addition, they visited the Gran Canaria Tourism headquarters, located on Calle Mayor de Triana in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, to learn about key aspects of tourist service from the hands of technicians from the island promotion entity.
