The councilor has also put on the table the request to “close the island ring in order to facilitate and streamline the municipality's connections with the rest of the island.”
The mayor of La Aldea de San Nicolás, Víctor Hernández, stated this Friday that “he hopes that the Government of the Canary Islands keeps its promise and the deadlines set for the new La Aldea de San Nicolás road to become a reality are met.” since “there are many neighbors who have been demanding this road for years to improve connectivity and guarantee the safety of drivers.”
This was stated after meeting with the Minister of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands, Pablo Rodríguez, with whom he analyzed the current situation and the needs of the municipality.
Among the issues raised, Hernández requested that the regional Executive promote the closure of the island ring through Mogán, with the aim of "improving and facilitating connections with the municipality", because "getting to La Aldea de San Nicolás continues to be an odyssey for many Gran Canaria and for those who visit us.”
In this regard, he also reminded the counselor that "there is already a commitment from the outgoing counselor that the Faneque tunnels will be inaugurated at the end of next September," and "we hope that is the case, because the villagers do not deserve one more delay with the highway.”
During the meeting, which was the first contact between both administrations, other issues related to housing in the municipality, the Port of La Aldea, or the helisurface, among many others, were discussed.
