We continue with high temperatures in some municipalities of Gran Canaria

 

The Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Emergencies, declares the alert situation due to maximum temperatures in Gran Canaria, starting at 11:00 a.m. on August 19, remaining in a pre-alert situation in the rest of the archipelago. .

The sky is slightly cloudy or clear with intervals of medium and high clouds, which could leave some isolated precipitation, usually weak. They will be somewhat more likely in high areas. In addition, intervals of low clouds on the northern coast in the early and late hours are not ruled out. 

 

The haze at altitude, increasing in the afternoon, with temperatures slightly to moderately rising. Temperatures will exceed 34 ºC in points of the southern and western interior, where the minimum temperatures will be above 25 ºC. 30 - 32 ºC may be reached or exceeded in large mid-range areas. 

 

The moderate northeast wind, with strong intervals on the southeast and northwest slopes, as well as at the western tip. In these areas there could be occasional very strong gusts, especially in the early and late hours. On summits, light to moderate wind from the east. Breezes on the southwest coast.

Intervals of medium and high clouds that could leave some isolated precipitation, generally weak. They will be more likely in inland areas. It is not ruled out that locally they will be in the form of a shower and accompanied by the occasional storm. 

 

The haze, mainly affecting the midlands and summits. Probable rise in temperatures from slight to moderate, mainly the maximum temperatures. 34 ºC may be reached or exceeded in interior points. In the midlands of the southern slope the minimum temperatures will locally be above 26 ºC. 

 

The moderate northeast wind, with some strong intervals on the southeast and northwest slopes, as well as at the western tip, mainly at the beginning and end of the day. At summits it will turn to the eastern component. Breezes on the southwest coast.

The sky is slightly cloudy or clear in general, with intervals of medium and high clouds during the first half of the day in the eastern islands and Tenerife. Throughout the morning there could be some precipitation, generally weak and isolated, in high areas of Tenerife. 

 

The haze, affecting the midlands and summits. Maximum temperatures with few changes, except in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, where an increase is not ruled out. Minimum in slight to moderate ascent. 34 ºC may be reached or exceeded in inland points on all the islands. 

 

The moderate northeast wind, more intense on the southeast and northwest slopes. At summits it may occasionally be of this component.
