At least three pieces of information about an alleged scam with possible side effects on the CC councilor Héctor Suárez was what motivated the mayor of Telde, Juan Antonio Peña, to force the departure of the Galdense councilor from the circle of power of the municipality of Telde. Maspalomas24H became aware of "certain information" this August that pointed to "ways of working that cannot be tolerated."
Peña said this summer that his "bet is on a real change in forms, practices and ways of acting and that a committed government cannot falter in the face of considerations that have no impact on the well-being of citizens." The local leader of CC has wanted to place a local leader of the party as head of purchases of the waste service when he is a high-voltage technical position. Suárez defends that the person appointed was a graduate in Geography with knowledge of land management.
Suárez himself has done this weekend an act of reinforcing his role by presiding over a local assembly to discuss his own departure. A Gran Canarian leader of CC told Maspalomas24H that "the insular executive of CC is not going to enter into this issue." In the last local elections, Suárez stood up to Fernando Clavijo during the electoral campaign at an event in Telde.
The appointment of Jonay López, former CC councilor, as purchasing controller of the service concessionaire has generated the decision to leave the Suárez government group. The CC assembly chaired by Héctor Suárez to defend Suárez's own management has requested the protection of the insular CC leadership chaired by Pablo Rodríguez from Telden. Suárez has extended the blame to the entire local CC apparatus to the point that the agreement of the political council of CC calls for the defense of the "honorability of all the members of the municipal group of the Telde Canarian Coalition", which is not has questioned the local alliance of Ciuca, PP and independents.
Peña has highlighted that in his mandate "he is committed to a real change in forms, practices and ways of acting and that a committed government cannot falter in the face of considerations that have no impact on the well-being of citizens." Meanwhile, a restructuring of areas will occur, such that from now on, Juan Francisco Artiles becomes second deputy mayor; Juan Martel assumes the Territories area and the Culture and Municipal Services delegations; Pilar Mesa maintains Public Lighting, Health and Consumer Affairs; Ciuca takes control of Water and Urban Planning, and the PP now holds the delegation of the Cleaning service.
