The test will take place between August 24 and 26 and many boats have been chartered by national and foreign athletes
The Tourism Councilor of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria calls for the youngest to register for the Children's Fishing Contest
Between August 24 and 26, Gran Canaria hosts the III Gran Canaria Deep Sea Fishing International Open, which will once again be organized by the Pasito Blanco Yacht Club and the participation of the sports docks of Puerto Rico and Mogán. The contest has 34 editions since the initial proposal of the traditional Pasito Blanco fishing contest, the embryo of the current model and which was a pioneer in the concept of catch and release, converted three years ago into Open International.
To date, as the registration list is still open, some 40 boats will compete for the best catch and release of the Blue Marlin, and a percentage of these will be chartered by national crews, from the Iberian Peninsula, and foreign ones, through the rental of local boats, with expert and well-equipped crews to spend long days of offshore fishing, far from the rush and worries and, thus, being able to enjoy the competition and the magnificent nautical conditions that the island of Gran Canaria offers for the practice of this sporting activity.
For Gran Canaria, this International Open is the ideal showcase to attract a type of client, in love with the marine environment, sport fishing, and who selects their vacation location based on the specimens of Blue Marlin, Pipefish, Bonito Atlantic and White Tuna, among other species, especially populated in the waters of the Canary Islands.
As usual, this test will feature rental boats with the presence of foreign crew members. It is a common practice for fishing enthusiasts from the mainland to charter boats at the sports docks of Pasito Blanco, Puerto Rico and Mogán. In addition, there will be participants from the rest of the Islands who have this date marked in red on the calendar of events of regional interest. So far there are five boats from the rest of the Archipelago, three from the Peninsula and between four and five foreigners are expected.
According to the director of the Pasito Blanco Sports Pier and member of the organizing committee of the International Deep Sea Fishing Open, Francisco Torres, “the conditions are going to be spectacular. If last week's conditions hold, there will be plenty of Blue Marlin.”
Children's Fishing Contest
The organization of the International Open has scheduled a day for the youngest with the Children's Fishing Contest, which will be held at the Pasito Blanco Sports Pier and will have prizes from commercial houses that participate in this event, in addition to the San Bartolomé Tirajana City Council .
The Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo, calls for the youngest to register for the Children's Fishing Contest. “This year, this unmissable summer event returns, with an expanded offer to the youngest through the Children's Fishing Contest. For this reason, I invite all the boys and girls of the Island, especially those from the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, to participate in this day. I trust and wish that all participants can enjoy the festive atmosphere of this proposal.”
As the main novelty in the current proposal, there is a talk on environmental care standards aimed at the little ones and that aims to consolidate the values of conservation and care of the environment that has placed this Open and its original embryo as an international exponent.
The registration period for the test remains open until next August 23 and can be formalized through the website www.pasitoblanco.com, where the little ones can also register for the Children's Fishing Contest. The Pasito Blanco Yacht Club is a member of the Gran Canaria Blue brand.
