The southern town will offer more than 1.000 kilos of products and fruits of the land to Nuestra Señora del Pino

The residents and socio-cultural associations of the municipality have participated for the first time in the preparation of the ornaments and banners

The Department of Celebrations and Events has presented the cart with which the San Bartolomé de Tirajana town council will participate, on September 07, in the pilgrimage offering to Our Lady of the Pine, in the Villa Mariana de Teror. Its preparation, said the first deputy mayor of the municipality, Alejandro Marichal (CC), this year has “an important novelty” and that is that the residents and socio-cultural associations of the municipality “have become, for the first time, the protagonists of its creation” since they have participated in the elaboration of the ornaments of the cart and the banners that the procession will carry.

Manuel Encinoso has been in charge of designing the cart that is called the 'Vara del Romero' and is inspired by the Tablero de Maspalomas pilgrimage that has been celebrated since 1974 and which constitutes "one of the most important cultural events in the municipality." . The Romero Stick represents the historical, cultural, ethnographic and agricultural values of the El Tablero neighborhood and since last year it has been awarded, during the pilgrimage, to a person or group for their contribution to the promotion and conservation of the culture and traditions of the municipality. The design of the Rod, explains its creator Encinoso, distinguishes the triangle, which represents the Mystery of the Holy Trinity; the spirit of the town, captured in the Paloma; a central cucaña commemorating what was the landscape of the area; a sphere that recalls the silhouette of the tomato, the main economic engine in another era; and all of this, bordered by the flora that represents the seed of the little ones, who are the future of these traditions.

For his part, the first deputy mayor of the Villa de San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Alejandro Marichal, highlighted and thanked the neighbors and associations for their participation in the creation of the cart, which will carry an offering on the day of the pilgrimage. of more than 1.000 kilos of local products and fruits such as almonds, cheese, prickly pears or mangoes, among others, as well as the traditional Santiago cake cooked in Tunte and which will be delivered to Nuestra Señora del Pino. Marichal recalled that the Department of Celebrations and Events has made free public transportation available to residents so that they can attend and participate in the pilgrimage, "the registration period will be open until next Monday, September 04."

The mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Marco Aurelio Pérez, also spoke about this aspect, indicating that the council has enabled buses from the different neighborhoods of the municipality to “encourage participation and attendance, so that the cart is not only beautiful from from the point of view of design, but also that we have many neighbors to accompany us.”
