Tourism companies in the south of Gran Canaria want to diversify the profile of tourists who come to the island and the Israeli market fits perfectly. Local chains such as Lopesan Hotels, Cordial Hotels & Resorts and Bohemia Suites & Spa and entities such as Gran Canaria Convention Bureau have promoted the destination with Turespaña. Turespaña, through the Tourism Department in Rome, held this September in the city of Tel Aviv (Israel) the third edition of 'Shalom Spain 2023', a professional workshop whose objective is to put Israeli tour operators in contact with the offer of Gran Canaria destinations.
The objective of these sessions has been to promote the commercialization of the Spanish tourism sector in this sending country. The conference has had the participation of 39 tour operators and agencies from Israel interested in the Gran Canaria Sur product and the Spanish Embassy in Tel Aviv has collaborated in the organization. Gran Canaria Tourism, in collaboration with the island Chamber of Commerce, will also carry out a commercial mission in Israel that includes holding meetings at the highest level with institutional representatives of the Tel Aviv tourism industry, as well as meetings with different operators of the country's tourism industry.
On the other hand, three tour operators have traveled to Gran Canaria, including one specialized in the MICE segment, two representatives of the airlines EL AL and Royal Air Maroc. This familiarization trip gives way to new Gran Canaria Tourism actions focused on increasing the number of tourists from the Hebrew market, a market with high growth potential and high purchasing power.
