Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida returns in October

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Crafts of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Minerva Alonso Santana, has revealed the keys to the new 2023 edition of GCSW by MC together with Arancha Priede, Business Director at IFEMA MADRID, and the Canarian designer Elena Morales, Award for Best Sustainable Collection in the last edition of GCSW by MC.

 

The Cabildo of Gran Canaria has presented today, within the framework of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, the next edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida, to be held from October 5 to 7 at the Expomeloneras venue in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria). 

 

The presentation of the event in Madrid was carried out by Minerva Alonso Santana, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Crafts of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria. They have been with her Arancha Priede, Business Director at IFEMA MADRID, and Elena Morales, Award for Best Sustainable Collection in the last edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida.

 

Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida will bring together 33 designers and brands in this edition, -one more than in the last edition- of which 10 are from the Canary Islands – 8 from Gran Canaria and 2 from La Palma; 5 from the Peninsula, and 11 international. They are joined by 7 new creators -three more than in the last edition-. All of them will present their Spring Summer 2024 bets on the Canarian catwalk. Among the designers and brands confirmed for this edition are, among others, national creators of recognized prestige such as Aurelia Gil, Elena Morales, Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada and Dolores Cortés. This edition, in addition, national brands such as Monnur y Gisela..

 

Minerva Alonso thanked IFEMA MADRID for the experience, “which has meant an important positioning for our catwalk”, and the collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce and ACME, as well as the presence of all international and national firms that added to the work of local creators and the entire team of the island institution “They have turned the catwalk into the leading platform in Europe for swimwear, a showcase for the Island and an example of sustainability.”

 

Arancha Priede, highlighted the solid alliance between IFEMA MADRID and the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, which "For five years now, we have been working hand in hand with the firm commitment to promoting the internationalization and professionalization of the catwalk, increasingly consolidated as the main European reference in swimwear".

 

For her part, Elena Morales, winner of the Best Sustainable Collection in the last edition of GCSW by MC, thanked the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida program for the support provided during these years for the development of her career: “I want to thank the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida program for the support they have been giving me over these years. Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida is an unparalleled showcase to give impetus and visibility to the work of Canarian designers.”

 

Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda warm is a unique event in its category at the European level, and is born from the firm commitment of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria with the fashion industry. With this new edition, the event reinforces its position as an international reference in swimwear, and consolidates itself as the key event of its kind within the European catwalk circuit. The professionalization of the catwalk, one of the pillars of the strategy carried out by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria to promote the event, is based on a program of fashion shows with prestigious names from the current design scene, both Canarian and national. and international. 

 

During these years, the alliance between the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and IFEMA MADRID has managed to strongly promote the internationalization of the catwalk, achieving its positioning in international fashion headlines through a common strategy.

 

The catwalk in figuresThe last edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida obtained such positive data as the following: 60 million readers; 2,5 million impressions; 2.6 million views on networks; 200.000 interactions; 27% in ROI; and a growth in physical points of sale of 47% and online of 41%. After the increase in points of sale, A growth in billing of companies in the sector of 28,5% is observed compared to 2019.
