The consumption of what is known as the zombie drug has begun to be common in Barcelona, something that has raised all the alerts in the country.

It is often mixed with other drugs due to its extreme potency, making the drugs cheaper, more potent, more addictive and more dangerous.
Fentanyl has begun to have a presence in Spain, with Barcelona as the main entry point, according to the National Intelligence Center (CNI). Although regular consumption has not yet been reported in other parts of the country, all alerts have already been raised due to the havoc caused by this drug and which has devastated entire neighborhoods in American cities such as Philadelphia or San Francisco.
The main danger that this drug is already present in Spain is that the drug trafficking networks in charge of introducing it turn the Catalan capital into a base of operations from which they import and distribute this drug to other parts of Spain. And not only as fentanyl, but mixing this substance with other drugs most commonly consumed in Spain (cocaine, heroin...) and thus increasing the risks of overdose and side effects.
One of the communities where there is special concern about this new drug is in the Canary Islands. Although fentanyl consumption is somewhat residual and the existence of a network for the sale and purchase of this substance on the islands has not been reported, the increase in sailboats arriving from the American continent with tons of drugs poses a great threat.
In recent weeks, up to three sailboats loaded with tons of hashish and cocaine have been intercepted in international waters with the intention of arriving in the Canary Islands and introducing the merchandise into the archipelago by sea.
That is why concern is growing among the authorities and the members of the State Security Forces and Corps are waiting for any notification about the arrival of any vessel that may be carrying drugs with the intention of introducing it into the archipelago to intercept it immediately. and, above all, to be able to dismantle the organizations that are behind this transport of substances to prevent future shipments.
