Alan Svaiter, CEO of the Brazilian firm Votorantim Cimentos, a company that owns 50% of the El Pajar cement factory together with Corporación Masaveu, has been unanimously elected president of the Group of Cement Manufacturers of Spain (Oficemen). after the last board of directors meeting held by the cement employers' association. Svaiter succeeds José Manuel Cascajero, president of CEMEX Spain Operations, as president of Oficemen, who held the position since September 2021. Votorantim Cimentos is present in Spain with Ceisa, the brands Cemento Cosmos, Cemento Teide, Cementos Balboa, Prebetong Áridos, Prebetong Hormigones y Morteros Pulmor and has cement factories in Alconera (Badajoz), Córdoba, Málaga, Niebla (Huelva), Oural (Lugo) and Toral de los Vados (León); cement grinding in Tenerife and Bobadilla (Málaga); concrete plants, a mortar plant and aggregate operations located in Andalusia, the Canary Islands, Castilla y León, Extremadura and Galicia.
Linked to the cement sector for 15 years, Svaiter had previously developed his professional career in the mass consumption sector and in the mining industry. He joined the Votorantim Cimentos group in 2008, where he first directed, for two years, the Logistics area of the cement division, until in 2012 he was appointed CEO of Engemix, a Brazilian company of the group specialized in concrete. In 2014 he became director of the cement group's supply chain for the entire Brazilian market. Finally, in January 2018 he was appointed CEO of Votorantim Cimentos in Spain, a position he currently holds.
Alan Svaiter is a Production Engineer from the Pontifical University of Rio de Janeiro, and has, among other postgraduate qualifications, an MBA from the Dom Cabral Foundation business school and a master's degree in advanced management and leadership from INSEAD. From his new responsibility, Svaiter will lead the proposals and initiatives of the Spanish cement industry aimed at facing the present and future challenges of the sector, with an eye toward the recovery of its activity and the demanding climate neutrality objectives it faces. the entire industry.
