The events occurred when, after assisting in a traffic accident on GC-200, pk 34, the agents received an anonymous phone call alerting them to the presence of some objects abandoned by a person in a sugarcane field located behind the bus shelter. Lanzarote street buses.
Suspecting that they could be stolen objects, agents from the Local Police of La Aldea de San Nicolás went to the mentioned place, verifying the existence of a supermarket bag and a backpack inside which several small bricks were found, some of them packed in transparent film that, due to the smell it gave off and its shape, was identified as the narcotic substance known as hashish.
After the corresponding weighing, it was found that there was a total of 28,2 kilograms of the aforementioned substance, so the first procedures were carried out and the chain of custody and subsequent delivery to the municipality's Civil Guard forces was initiated.
This seizure is the second most important seizure so far this year, since last February 11,5 grams of cocaine were seized from a minor. As on this occasion, the appropriate proceedings were carried out before the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office.
Furthermore, during this year, the Local Police of La Aldea de San Nicolás has carried out several interventions in different points of habitual drug consumption in the municipality, which has resulted in numerous seizures of different substances such as methamphetamine, cocaine, hashish, or pills, among others. In these cases, the corresponding administrative complaints for possession and consumption on public roads have been processed.
In this regard, the mayor of La Aldea de San Nicolás and Councilor for Security, Víctor Hernández, has congratulated the Local Police for “this important seizure and all the magnificent work they are doing to put an end to the sale of drugs in the municipality.” . In this sense, he recalled that "we are talking about a public health problem that not only affects those who consume it and their families, but also the rest of the residents who suffer and report the circulation of narcotic substances in the municipality." .
