The president of the Canary Islands warns of the threats to the industrial sector, among them, the legislative modification of the average payment period to suppliers

Clavijo: “We have worked and we will continue working to correct those injustices that endanger employment and the Canarian industrial fabric”

The president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, defended this Friday a common front of Canarian society to “protect the Canarian singularities” and that they be included in state and European regulations. This was stated in the presentation of the new campaign with which the Industrial Association of the Canary Islands, ASINCA, in collaboration with the regional Executive will promote the 'Made in the Canary Islands' brand.

Fernando Clavijo took advantage of his intervention to reiterate his commitment “to a sector that is identity, economy, diversification, employment and progress for the Canary Islands. A sector that we have the obligation, and the Government that I preside will do, to protect and provide the instruments so that it can compete on equal terms.”

In this sense, he emphasized, “we are going to continue insisting that they understand us from Madrid and Brussels.” Among the demands, the Canarian president highlighted the update of the standard transport costs included in the General State Budget Law for 2023. “This work should have been done from January 1, but we are in September and the Government of the Canary Islands "The previous government did absolutely nothing and the current Government cannot find interlocutors to implement it." In this regard, he regretted that "we greatly fear that this year 2023 will end and we will not be able to move forward due to lack of political will from the Government of Spain."

The head of the Canary Islands Executive recognized the role played by campaigns such as those launched by the Canary Islands industry.” We need Madrid to understand that the Canarian industry is neither better nor worse than the rest of Spain, but that it does have certain conditions, recognized in our REF, and that it is obligatory by law to be compensated." At this point, he assured that the Government of the Canary Islands “has worked and we will continue working for the legislative modification that was also implemented unilaterally without understanding the Canary Islands about the average period of payment to suppliers and that is putting many aid in danger and could lead to "ruin and destroy the industrial fabric of the Canary Islands."

Fernando Clavijo warned that the Government he presides “continue working so that these injustices are not committed and so that jobs and companies do not continue to be put at risk.

Likewise, he aimed to raise awareness among the population of the importance “of consuming products made in the Canary Islands” because “that is the best way to contribute to the Canary Islands having a better present and guaranteeing the future. Therefore, 'happiness comes from the factory' is much more than an advertising slogan, like each of the campaigns with which ASINCA surprises us" to end by ensuring that "we have happiness at home, let's bet on it."

The president of the Canarias highlighted that the 'Made in the Canary Islands' brand is a fully recognized brand on the islands. In this regard, he acknowledged that “I don't think there is a Canarian who does not know each of the campaigns with which they have valued what is produced here for years. And it has merit, because in an increasingly globalized world they are capable of reaching where foreign brands do not reach, to the hearts of the Canary Islands."

The new communication strategy launched by the Industrial Association of the Canary Islands, ASINCA, with the slogan 'Happiness comes from the factory', and in which the Government of the Canary Islands has contributed a total of 350.000 euros, is a 360º campaign that will be present on television, radio, outdoor and digital from September 22 until the end of the year (https://elaboradoencanarias.com/).

During the presentation, held in the Tram depots in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, in which the president of ASINCA, Virgilio Correa, as well as the president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, and the vice-minister of Industry were also present. , Commerce and Consumption, Felipe Afonso and the general director of Industry of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ana Zurita, the role of the Made in the Canary Islands brand for the islands was recognized in different areas, from job creation, to technological and digital innovation or to sustainability.

With “Happiness Comes from the Factory” Virgilio Correa indicated that “ASINCA wants to reach the entire Canarian society, so we have developed a campaign with which everyone feels identified and integrated. An emotional campaign, with personality that will not go unnoticed.”

Correa stressed that this campaign is based on a clear conviction: "In the Canary Islands we are fortunate not only for the fact of living here, but also for being able to evolve and progress with our own resources." For this reason, he continued, “Made in the Canary Islands provides happiness, not only for the enjoyment of the products made here, but also for the progress generated by the action of choosing them. And that progress is represented in industrial development, in job creation and in sustainability.” Therefore, “If you buy food made here, you invest in everyone's Happiness,” he concluded.
