The municipal government decides to remove the 'minutes of silence' from the plenary hall and move them to the doors of City Hall
Governors and public employees of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council kept a minute of silence this Wednesday, at the doors of the Municipal Offices, in rejection of gender violence and any type of violence, especially that which directly affects women. and minors.
This initiative of the Department of Equality directed by the second deputy mayor, Elena Álamo Vega, will be promoted every last Wednesday of the month at 12.00:XNUMX p.m., “to remember and honor the memory of all the murdered women, and for the children and girls who have been orphaned by sexist violence.”
Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez explained to the participants in the minute of silence that with this act the Corporation of San Bartolomé de Tirajana “wants to show its position of complete rejection of sexist violence and the need to visualize much more than social struggle “It must be maintained as long as the problem persists.”
In this regard, the mayor clarified that the municipal government has decided to move this social demonstration against violence from the small space of the plenary hall, and move it to the doors of City Hall, to precisely enhance this social visualization of the problem. After thanking the municipal workers for joining this initiative, he pointed out that other actions will be added to the minute of silence “that will remind us that it is a necessity and a duty for everyone to put an end to this scourge.”
