The president of the Chamber, Luis Padrón, and the vice president, Santiago de Armas, expressed this end of September their satisfaction with the development of the local agenda in the south of the island in terms of tourism. Padrón and de Armas met with the first deputy mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Alejandro Marichal, and the Councilor for Tourism, Events and Celebrations, Yilenia Vega, to establish possible lines of collaboration between both institutions.
Since 2021, San Bartolomé de Tirajana has set its course towards the modernization and competitiveness of the tourism sector, agreeing to the constitution of a working group that assesses and prioritizes the projects and works necessary to modernize and improve the competitiveness of the destination, which could be financed with the Next Generation fund that the European Union will allocate to the tourism sector. That was during the time of CC in Tirajana with the failed pact with PSOE and NC.
This public-private agreement was made after the meeting of Marichal, the president of the Canarian Confederation of Businessmen, then Agustín Manrique; Luis Padrón, Santiago de Armas; the director of Arquitectura Wave, Javier Pérez; and the senior manager of PWC Spain, Marcos Cohen. Now in 2023 it is intended to restart that 2021 meeting to reestablish a roadmap and the need to have a multidisciplinary team that includes technicians from areas as varied as Environment and Digitalization. The constitution of that working group was the first stone to advance proposals, define strategies and commit to projects of general interest that can be subsidized by the European Union. “Work in coordination, in advance and with judgment to have everything organized for when the deadline for submitting proposals to Europe opens, arriving on time and with well-planned ideas,” Marichal then concluded.
