The complaint is for an alleged crime of prevarication in the files of the Riu Oliva Beach and Riu Palace Tres Islas
The prosecutor's office in turn supports the admission to processing of the criminal action
The Court of Instruction number 36 of Madrid has admitted the complaint filed by RIU for an alleged crime of prevarication against the general director of the Coast and the Sea, Ana Oñoro Valenciano, the deputy general director of Maritime-Terrestrial Public Domain, Ainhoa Pérez Puyol, and the general technical secretary of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Jacobo Martín Fernández.
The judicial body highlights that, after analyzing the facts reported in the complaint and the documentation provided, all the elements are present that, duly accredited by the legally provided means, could make up the crime reported.
Based on this, the Court of Instruction number 36 admits the complaint for processing for the actions of the senior officials indicated in relation to the files of the Riu Oliva Beach and Riu Palace Tres Islas hotels. In this sense and, among different documentary diligence practices, the Court requests the authorization file for renovation works at the Riu Oliva Beach complex as well as the concession files granted to both hotels.
The owners of both establishments understand that they have acted in bad faith on the part of the defendants, so that an alleged crime of prevarication could have been committed by having carried out a manifest persecution that was not in accordance with the consolidated rights and the administrative authorizations granted.
RIU Hotels & Resorts has been present in the Canary Islands since 1985 and currently offers 16 hotels on the islands, four of which are located in Fuerteventura.
