The art and culture of the trends of the birth of a way of life returns to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Today the presentation was held at a press conference at the Tourist Board of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria of the VI edition of the Big Bang Vintage Festival 2023.

Tequila.One more year, the Big Bang Vintage Festival once again brings the best music from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s of the last century to the island of Gran Canaria, specifically between October 6 and 8 at the San Telmo park in the capital. It will be the sixth edition that, faithful to the principles and philosophy that saw the birth of the festival in 2017, will present a good selection of the best rock and roll, with attention to country, rhythm and blues, punk, glam, swing or rockabilly.
In the musical part, the presence of Anna Dukke stands out. The singer of La Mancha origin who grew up in one of the loneliest mountains in the south of the peninsula in Sierra Morena, already sponsored the presentation party of the fifth installment of the festival last year, and now returns as the revelation of rhythm and blues and gospel that is already about to present its first EP, Broken Chains (Folc, 2022), which is produced by Al Dual, who was already at the Gran Canaria festival in 2019.
The other notable name of this edition is the English band Palooka 5, representatives of the best surf and garage of the 60s, performed with original period instruments. His sci-fi surfing is the unifying element of the songs on his third album, Alien Grace, published this year.
They are not the only artists present in this sixth edition. From Madrid comes Los Chill, a young glitter shock rock band, led by Burgos Vicen Oriach and Trash Diamond, with echoes of glam and punk in several singles and EPs released with the Family Spree Recordings label. Also from the capital will be Malabrava, a female cocktail that has already been performing frenetic concerts for five years to the rhythm of instrumental surf and garage. For its part, and from Valencia, Le Dancing Pepa Swing Band will transport the public to New York City in the 20s with its sound between swing, jazz and blues, as they have demonstrated in their three albums so far, Black Coffee-White Pepper (2016) Hat'n Dance (2018) and Dancin' in Storyville (2020).
Three Canarian bands will also be on stage in this sixth edition: Bad Bone Stompers, a group inspired by the bluesmen of the 40s and 50s, PVC (Pon Vino Cabrón), a band of entertainment and perversions of amphetamine-infused garage rock and roll. , psychobilly, pub-rock and rancheras, and Elvis Back to Building, a tribute show to the king of rock that repeats after last year's success.
The program is completed with The Champions, a British couple living in the south of Gran Canaria who performs great rock and roll and rockabilly hits from the 50s and 60s, plus the tribute group Salta Tequila and the selectors Los Pinchadiscos del Pantano, Vamp Dj and J La Fábrica Dj. The artistic cast is completed with the burlesque show by Chiqui Love and Evita de Vil, plus Rafaelillo Clown Cabaret, master of ceremonies for the children's audience.
Aside from the musical programming, the San Telmo park will host northern soul, rock and roll, swing and tap dance workshops, custom motorcycle displays, and a market with antiques, collecting, fashion, records, literature, photography, and a charity barber shop. or tattoos. Additionally, in the Insular Library, in the Plaza de las Ranas, the exhibition will open on Thursday the 5th. Rock&Hers, a series by Tenerife photographer Javi Felipe in which the author makes visible the work and prominence of women in the Archipelago's music scene.
