The departments of Roads and Works and Cleaning and Waste Collection once again join forces to recover one of the biggest black spots in the municipality

The City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has started this Wednesday a specific action to clean and in-depth sanitation of the old Mirador del Campo Internacional, also known as Mirador del Golf, to proceed with its recovery as a nerve center of the municipality.

Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez and the first deputy mayor, Alejandro Marichal, supervised the beginning of the work, which is aimed at leaving the entire surface of the viewpoint completely open for its provisional and immediate preparation as a “strategic tourist space.”

These public decoration tasks in which the departments of Roads and Works and Cleaning and Waste Collection once again collaborate in a coordinated manner, as was done previously in the clearing of Toboplaya debris and in the cleaning of the slope of the Annex Parking II, will continue for the rest of the week with the support of the Department of Parks and Gardens and the UTE in charge of municipal cleaning.

The meticulous action plan that the council departments led by Eduardo Armas Herrera and Ruymán Cardoso López have now drawn up is focused on the removal of all the garbage accumulated inside the facilities; in the block enclosure of its entire ground floor to prevent it from continuing to be a nest for illegal occupations; the removal of all disused machinery and also the aluminum and glass screens of the bar and the old tourist information office, and the arrangement of the shade roof that covers the infrastructure. In a subsequent action, deep cleaning of the entire slope will also be undertaken and tree replanting has not been ruled out.

For the mayor, this action at the Campo Internacional viewpoint "is a new specific action to recover the strategic enclaves of the Maspalomas Costa Canaria tourist area that need - at a minimum - visual improvement." After removing all the accumulated garbage, “a complete repair of the place will be undertaken,” he stated.

For his part, Alejandro Marichal highlighted that "in these first hundred days we are trying to improve those points that were worst in the municipality, such as the descent to the Annex, the Toboplaya and now this viewpoint." He indicated that this task will continue in the coming weeks and months, because “the work idea that the government group has in the short term is to clean and improve the image of the municipality and, of course, put out to tender the kiosks that are expired. ”.

Many residents of the area came to the viewpoint to gratefully see this specific action that the City Council has undertaken to reverse the image of one of the biggest black spots in the tourist area. They value the cleanliness and tourist adaptation of the space, but they are happy “especially for the eviction and walling up of the ground floor of the property, where the warehouse and bathrooms were, because it is a measure that remedies the noise, parties and fights that the squatters generated almost daily,” they say.
