At around 13:45 p.m., the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert reporting that a cyclist had left the road and rushed into an area. steep, falling about 4-5 meters high, on the GC-65, at approximately kilometer point 10 of the municipality of Santa Lucía.
A 65-year-old man who, at the initial moment of assistance, presented a hip fracture and very serious multiple trauma, was evacuated by rescue helicopter to the Dr. Negrín University Hospital of Gran Canaria. The SUC Personnel and the emergency teams immobilized the affected person to be hoisted onto the aircraft that carried out his urgent evacuation to the helisurface of the aforementioned hospital, where an SUC ambulance was waiting for him and was in charge of transferring him to the emergency service.
The police forces of the Civil Guard, the Local Police, and the Gran Canaria Consortium Firefighters together with Civil Protection were activated by the Coordinating Center, secured the area and collaborated with emergency resources, carrying out the corresponding procedures.
