The Department of Sports restarts the municipal hiking program on Saturday, October 28
The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council will launch its municipal hiking program again on Saturday, October 28. You will do this by organizing a low-level walk, seven kilometers long, from Corvo to Moya, crossing Los Tilos.
The sports hiking program that the Department of Sports directed by Ramón Suárez has articulated for this year 2023 includes, in addition to that, the realization of two other monthly walks until the end of the year.
The two November walks will take place on Saturday the 4th, from Fontanales to Montaña Alta de Guía, 9 kilometers and medium level; and on Saturday the 18th, from Tamadaba to the Agaete Valley passing through El Sao and Los Berrazales, also of medium level and 10 kilometers.
In December the planned walks will be on Saturday the 2nd, from Cruz de Tejeda to Laguna de Valleseco, at a low level and 9 kilometers; and on Saturday the 16th, from the Llanos de Bailico to Tunte (Camino de La Plata), at a low level and 9 kilometers. At the end of the latter, the traditional asadero of fellowship and the end of the program will be held, which will be organized in the Las Lagunas Recreational Park.
These five walks are just the starting point for the resumption of the activities of the San Bartolomé Camina municipal hiking program, recovered by the Department of Sports after the previous government paralyzed it due to the pandemic and did not restart it despite its enormous attractiveness and neighborhood and tourist acceptance.
In order to recover this municipal sports program until the end of the year, the City Council has carried out a public tender that the company Cmueven won. This entity assumes the organization of each of the five walks and the technical deployment that is required in each of them, with a guide and two accompanying monitors, in addition to a support service with two toilets and an ambulance.
The San Bartolomé Camina sports program of hiking and nature activities took its first steps in 2005. Its journey led it to become a benchmark for the rest of the municipalities of Gran Canaria. Its annual program came to include the organization of hiking activities for families and even organized trips for hiking on the rest of the islands of the Archipelago and in Spanish national parks.
